Welcome to my world! Instead of a silver spoon in my mouth, I was born with a silkscreen in one hand, a squeegee in the other, and plastisol ink on my face! My father, Gene Hammond, was raised by a father who owned a sign shop and a mother who was an accomplished artist. While a student in the school of architecture, he started a sportswear company to pay his way through college based on his knowledge of silk-screening he learned from his father. His company grew rapidly, selling printed tee shirts, sweatshirts, jackets and laundry bags to fraternities and sororities nationwide. His early catalogs often featured friends and family (including my mother) who modeled his products.
His business took off and evolved over the years and soon they were also selling products at wholesale to specialty stores and department stores under the brand name "Design Express™". His clean, contemporary designs and products were ahead of their time. When I was two years old, he put me in his 1972 Hammond Sportwear catalog sporting a funky Raggedy Ann tee standing amongst the student models.
Later, he added some cute canvas bags and more designs for children. All the while, I grew up absorbing his philosophy for simplicity and modern art - with a natural knack of my own for creating it. Often, I would sit on the floor of his studio with a set of markers creating designs that he assured me he would use if they were good enough. Well, that never happened, but I had so much fun working alongside him that I didn't care. Look for us to revisit some of his cool, now retro designs in the near future and add them to the Snugfits™ line!
Eventually, he moved onto product and industrial design and I went off to the Art Institute of Atlanta, graduating with honors at the top of my class. I dove into the world of advertising, working for several agencies as a graphic designer and art director. At first, I specialized in print and eventually ventured into web design. While developing websites for my clients, I often dreamed about having a store of my own. But, what would I sell?

After the birth of my first son, I started searching for some cool baby onesies and tees. I was disappointed to find the selections were limited and the quality not up to my expectations. I'd find the message I was looking for, but the design was awful. Poor font choices, improper kerning and just plain sloppy execution is what I was running into. I also wasn't seeing the color options I had envisioned. So, what is a mom to do? I decided to go back to my roots and make my own!

Incorporating my eye for detail, mother's wit, taste for clean design and the "Helvetica Mentality" passed on by my father, I created a line that makes me proud. After testing the market locally - selling at home town festivals and bazaars - I knew I was ready to open my own online boutique. Luckily, with my background, I knew just how to do that! I designed my website from scratch, did my own photography (using my son and niece as models) and wrote my own policies. My tees are a labor of love from conception to creation. With the help of my crew (aka husband, Brett), our business is hands on from our shop to your home. I hope that you and yours enjoy wearing them as much as I enjoy making them.

Thanks for stopping by!
