The Other White Meat

Posted by Brett in menu planningfoodcooking

Ok, so here's one of the items from the lunches I was writing about. I figured I better go ahead and post some photographic proof after my rave review. This pig was an entree in the boys' lunch on Tuesday. Sara made an extra one for Bodie, so I actually got to see one in broad daylight before it was packed into a lunchbox! Normally I only get to see the tattered remains of what Sara created, after G and G get home from school and I rummage through their uneatens for a quick snack.

I presented this pig to Bodie at lunch, he got the biggest smile and uttered one word, "Piggy". Then he promptly picked off the nose and ears and popped them in his hungry little mouth. Next he picked up the rice ball, and I guess he didn't like the sticky texture since he set it right  back down. Thanks be to God for that, too, because I was starving!

He didn't get a second chance at it. I gave him an apple and slammed that pig like there was no tomorrow.

Menu Plan Monday :: November 16th - 22nd 2009

menu plan monday

Looks like I'll be doing a whole lot of baking this week. Much more than is the norm for me. Unfortunately, it's supposed to be in the 70's all week, instead of the crisp weather we should be having this time of year. Especially since the oven will be pumping out the heat and there is clam chowder on the menu!

The last menu plan I put together was just... so so. The only thing worth mentioning again was the Ultimate Grilled Cheese Sandwiches. They were truly incredible and loved by all. Best grilled cheese I've ever made, by far. I'm still on the lookout for the perfect pizza dough recipe, though. The one we tried from the last menu plan just didn't cut it. :(

I reference everything on the menu with a link to the recipe, unless it's something that doesn't require one. If the link directs you to another website, it means that I have not tried the recipe, and therefore have no idea whether it is good or not. :) If the link leads to a posted recipe here on my blog, it means that it is a tried & true family recipe that we love. I will also revisit some of the recipes I link to and leave comments about how they turned out for us the following week.

Dinner Menu :: November 16th - 22nd 2009

Baked French Fries (frozen)

Meal Plan Monday :: October 26th - November 1st 2009

menu plan monday

Well, this week includes Halloween! My parents will be coming in town for the weekend and will get to spend it with our kids for the first time. We'll be keeping it simple that night making some fancy grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup - a classic. Something to fill their tummies before all of that candy. Gavin said that he wants to trick-or-treat at one hundred houses! We'll see how he feels after we get through the 20 on our street. Hopefully, that will be enough. :) We are so busy this week - traveling to the local aquarium and battleship for their Halloween bashes after school. The kids are super excited and it is so much fun to watch them!

Oh my, we loved everything from the October 19th - 25th 2009 menu plan. If you missed it, do check it out. Everything was awesome - we will be making it all again. That doesn't happen every week!

I reference everything on the menu with a link to the recipe, unless it's something that doesn't require one.
